Way back in 2016, I started to get very interested in getting a pilots license. I had been casually using X-Plane prior to this, but now started to take it more seriously. I built a mediocre flight sim control panel using off the shelf hardware from Saitek at first. In 2017, I decided to enroll in flight training and felt it best to use my skills to build my own flight simulator at home, based on the plane I was training with in flight school, the Diamond DA20.

I built the panel using my X-Carve CNC and a whole crapload of electronics and wiring. After adding a motion platform for enhanced realism, this sucker is ready to take off. I won’t go into a whole lot of detail here, as I created a separate blog site about the process and build experience, at M1sims.com.
