I forgot that I had made this sign for my friend John Michaels, at Protokulture. I had some leftover wood from another project and wanted to put it to good use. This was really a practice session to teach myself how to make signs like this. It ended up being much easier than I thought. I love working with wood, as it smells so good while it’s cutting.
It was pretty easy to carve and the ebony stain I used really soaked in well. I was testing creating a beveled edge, using a 90 degree bit on this one. Good test! It helps to start with a great design and John has a cool logo.
